La Macina di San Cresci

“Artists are interesting creatures. We can be obsessive, dedicated, spirited and single minded in our pursuit for that perfect realisation of our art. We tend to be outsiders and are often that square peg in the round hole, so when you find an oasis like San Cresci you hold on tight -- for it’s that sense of belonging which welcomes you.”

Sondra Dorr is an interactive and creative technology designer who creates immersive environments and installation artwork. She holds a BA in Open Media and Digital Creative Design from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), during her studies she cross-registered at Brown University with a core focus on non profit funding , engaged public research, and poetry.

Sondra Dorr is an American Contemporary artist that has produced publicly engaged installations that allow the viewers to explore the organics of sensory perception. Through her epistemology of art, she is able to create free public engaged environments that have been conceptually developed through her artistic research between any systematic design, but preferably psychology and science. These interactive spaces incorporate organic material like plants, oranges, and tangerines. Drawing from the understanding of today’s new wave of technology she utilizes this to help her define the environment through various mixed media like coding, illustration, painting, graphic design, audio, video, photography, and projection mapping. Her goal is for the viewer’s perception to intersect the boundaries between organic, digital, and man-made therefore leading to a spiritual experience.
