My work involves elementary processes - dyeing, knotting, threading, grinding, plastering etc. - to form or reform my basic materials for fabrication and construction. Equally it is concerned with undoing, unravelling, and taking apart. And with recycling parts and product of older technologies such as weaver’s bobbins and text produced on old typewriters. These techniques and the objects produced or left over from their use places my work in continual dialogue with the lives of other people both in the present and in the past, and suggest varied processes of identity formation and transformation to which that process gives rise.
