I’m a poet and the author of three books and two chapbooks. I’ve published widely in literary journals in the US, as well as in literary journals in England, Ireland, and Canada. A lawyer who changed careers in order to focus on creative writing, I teach at Sonoma State University in Northern California. My poems often focus on science and nature, history and prehistory, politics, or other artwork. 

Too often, the arts and sciences are perceived as estranged rather than recognized as realms that share a foundation in creative energy and hope. I love to read and research about anthropology, archaeology, and the natural sciences and then write poems inspired by these fields. Climate change has added urgency to the mix. One of my recent manuscripts focuses on the participation of women in making paleolithic cave art.
