Toronto based artist, Gina D’Aloisio utilizes interdisciplinary sculpture and installation, her primary material focuses are hyperreal mould making and found objects. My work is a reflection of the times, it pokes fun at and seriously contemplates the world we live in. Replicating parts of the human body using silicone, hair and other materials creates a physical and abject relationship between my work and my viewers' bodies. The found objects I select are banal and mundane, looking to question our physical spaces. I also experiment with traditional media such as wax, bronze casting, metalwork, welding, and plaster. Combining new methods of fabrication and contemporary themes with traditional materials subverts any conventions and associations we might have with them.
