My artwork explores the biology of living beings, bringing awareness to what goes on inside a living being and what makes life possible. I use painting, drawing, and photography to create surreal narratives for the viewer to contemplate. My motivation as an artist comes from my deep seeded curiosity of the human body, how it can develop from a microscopic size to a fully functioning organism. The best way I can think to describe my interest in human and animal anatomy is with a beehive. A beehive in itself is a natural marvel, but the humming that comes from within is far more interesting. Inside, where you cannot see are activities, functions, architecture, and behaviors that are very complex yet all you can hear from the outside is a light buzz. As an artist I would like to create works that act as a bee hive, they are appealing and intriguing on the surface, but the more time you spend with them you can realize a further deeper connection to biology and life itself.
