Freiman Stoltzfus is a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was born into an AmishMennonite family, the youngest of six children. From an early age, his artistic ability was recognized and encouraged, in particular by his mother. He began depicting the people and landscapes of the Amish community.Freiman studied at The National Academy and Arts Students League, both in New York City. He is proficient in a variety of media, including oil and acrylic paint, pastel, drawing, watercolor, printmaking, photography, collage, and sculpture. His work is inspired by personal interests,including music, the four seasons, poetry, Amish quilts, Gothic architecture, and geometry. In 2010, he was awarded a residency with the renowned sculptor Greg Wyatt in Hastings, New York. He also studied with the Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Pellegrin and National Academician Rhoda Sherbell.  Freiman has a great love of adventure and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. While living in France and Italy,he studied language, music, art, and spent much time in the great museums and churches which have influenced his work.
